  • Notes
    • from Vicki Avent Pack, of Toledo, OH:

"When Early died of the flu during the Pandemic of 1918, Tessie was left with four young children. She made the decision to take the family to The Junior Order of United American Mechanics National Orphans' Home. Early was associated with the Home. My Aunt Geraldine died there at the age of 12 and was buried on the property. When the home was closed, the burial sites were moved to a group site at Greenlawn Cemetery. Blair and Joe were raised there until they graduated from high school and went on their own. My Grandmother remarried Lawrence Barber and was allowed to take one child. Since my dad was the youngest, she made the difficult decision to take him."
