      William Andrew Moore was born in Hardeman Co., TN on Mar. 22, 1837. His twin brother was Thomas Harrison Moore. On Jan. 13, 1860, Andrew married Dicey Anna Dickens who was born in 1839. The were 21 and 23 years of age. Nine children were born of this union:

      Andrew's wife, Dicey, died in 1879 at the age of 40. Andrew was left a widower at the age of 42 with five young children.

      In 1871, Andrew had purchased approx. 600 acres of land in Hardeman Co. located between Mecklinburg Dr. and Newcastle Rd., on Moore Rd., approx. 5 miles from Bolivar, TN.

      Andrew remarried, this time to Mary E. Worrell, whose father, John J. Worrell, was founding father of the "Fayette Falcon" in Somerville, TN. Three sons were born of this union:

      John Alva "Ike", b. 1883, d. 1964
      Joseph Graves, b. 1885, d. 1936

      Andrew, or "W. A.", was also known as "Uncle Billy". Before the War Between the States, he served as an overseer for a neighboring farm. He was a Confederate veteran serving as wagon master with friend and future neighbor, Mr. Matthews. Uncle Billy later served as clerk for the Middleburg, TN, Baptist Church for over 40 years. He was known for using chestnut stumps to mount his horse, and for the fine quality of beef butchered and sold from his wagon most Saturdays. He also transported his own cotton to Memphis, TN, to sell.

      Andrew died in 1919 at the age of 82. Mary lived until 1931 and died at the age of 86.
