See 'What's New' in that section for details. * 9/19/2008: completely revamped the 'Avent Surname Distribution' page to show the distribution of the surname throughout the world, and not just the US. * 2/1/2008: added a picture to the 'Avent Ferry' page (click on 'Avent-related Photographs, Scans, Documents, etc.' to see) of a colonial-era ferry, likely identical to the one used by John Avent when the ferry was founded. * 8/2/2007: added a pdf file of a fascinating narrative by a Dempsey Pitts, who had been a slave in the household of Benjamin W.
