Avent, Tamlin (1801-1875, Greensville Co., VA): Oath of Allegiance dated 7/22/1866.

He was a prominent local politician before the war, and the oath of allegiance was necessary to apply for a pardon from the US government, which would enable him to hold public office again. It is unknown whether or not his petition was granted.
