      Ælfgifu was venerated as a saint soon after she was buried at the royal nunnery of Shaftesbury, a house connected with her mother, a ?religious woman? or vowess[3][4]Æthelweard reports that many miracles had taken place at her tomb up to his day.[5] Her feast day is May 18.
