      Norman Terry Avant, 79, passed away at home in American Fork, Utah on February 24, 2009. Born Oct 21, 1929 in Laredo, Texas to Earl Stanley and Nola Elms Avant. He married Betty Ann Nickel Oct 2, 1951 in Las Vegas, NV. Betty died Dec 7, 2008.

      Norman's career consisted of working as an Aeronautical Engineer. He served his country during WWII in the Army Air Corps. Norman was a great provider and loved to spoil his children and grandchildren. He was a world wide traveler and especially enjoyed visiting the middle east and sharing his experiences. He always enjoyed a good conversation with everybody.

      Survived by his 2 daughters, Susan Avant and Debbie (Rick) Pierce; grandchildren, Travis Avant, Bill Pierce, Bob Pierce and Brian Pierce. Preceded in death by his wife Betty, his parents, his sister Kay Leedom, and his grandson Brent Pierce.

      Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 28, 2009 at 1 pm in the Anderson & Sons Mortuary Chapel, 49 E 100 N, American Fork. Friends may visit with the family from 12 to 12:45 pm. Interment, American Fork Cemetery. Military Rites by VFW Dist IV.
