      from Keith Francis (7/2012):

"Esther Francis was married to Samuel G. Turner, who was the father of Mary C. Turner Brown. Sarah Francis was first married to Thomas Moore - they had a child, Putnam Moore, who was the lawful owner of Nat Turner, even though he was a child.

Sarah Francis secondly married Joseph Travis after the death of her first husband. Both these women were sisters to Rebecca Francis Dupree, mother, of Sarah Dupree Avent. Sarah Francis Travis and her whole family were murdered in the Nat Turner insurrection along with her brother Salathiel Francis. Plus the grandchildren of Esther Francis Turner were murdered on the farm of Nathaniel W. Francis. They were Samuel Turner Brown and John Lewis Dupree Brown. The second wife of Samuel G. Turner was Elizabeth Reese (Williamson), former wife of Anselm Williamson (and my direct ancestor), who was murdered during the insurrection. She was my great grandmother's grandmother."
