Served as a tail gunner in the 14th Air Force in China and Burma (the 14th AF was the outfit that succeeded the Flying Tigers, when the all-volunteer Flying Tigers became incorporated into the USAAC). Commanded by Gen. Claire Chennault. Flew over 55 combat missions, shot down three times. Also served in the USAF during the Korean Conflict . Is buried in Rock Quarry Veteran's Cemetary, Raleigh, NC.
