I have a copy of land records in Mississippi that show Green R.Aven purchased land, 543 acres, October 1, 1860 and that it was a "cash entry sale" in Grenada County, MS. A Ferney C Aven had made a purchase June 1, 1860 of 543 acres. These purchases were in Sections 6E and 7E respectively, not sure of Township and Range. Greene Aven was a brother to my grandfather Amos Wesley Aven.

Nash Co Guardian Bonds and Returns:
Allen Avent, orphan of Thomas Avent. Bond 1784 by Joseph Johnston, guardian
Amos Avent, orphan of Thomas Avent. Bond 1784 by Joseph Johnston, guardian
from Garland Avent:
"Allen, Amos and Abner lived in Nash County in the late 1700's and were the children of one Thomas and Rebecca Avent who lived where I grew up in Aventon...Abner moved to Tn after the death of his first wife and had another family there. Allen and Amos were removed to Chatham County NC after their guardian was changed to Joseph Johnston. Later they moved to Va and Tn."
"Amos Aven", age 69, b. in NC, shows up on 1850 Henderson Co., TN census with wife Matilda and son Green. He cannot be located on 1860 census so it is assumed he died 1850-60. One reference states without sources that he died 1855.
Thomas Avent & Rebecah Stephens (Parents of Amos, Abner and Allen- the orphans in Nash Co. NC (Thomas guardianship papers in Edgecombe-now Nash)
Amos married (probably Chatham Co. NC) Matilda Rogers. In Chatham in 1810, and later Perry Co. TN. 13 children- many to Ms.
"Amos was son of Thomas & Rebecca Stephens-and he was son of William & Sara Massie son of Thomas the Immigrant.
Amos left Chatham Co NC and went to Tn- Carroll-Henderson etc. and his kids on to Miss..etc. My particular one-James Stanford-came to Ga. for some reason and married Rebecca Rogers. His Mother was Matilda Rogers..."
Halifax, N C
"Thomas & Rebecca Stevens had Amos who in 1810 was in Chatham Co. NC and by 1820 was in Carroll Co TN."
"Amos was born 1775 NC-probably Northampton, now Nash."
